Fairness, Accountability & Equal Justice Program
Our Mission
Drawing from Founder Michael Brown’s personal experience with systemic injustice in the family court system, this program champions fairness and accountability in Florida’s, and the nation’s, legal system. Focused especially on disabled individuals and disenfranchised fathers, we work to expose inequities, demand enforcement of rights, and promote equal access to justice.
Key Issues We Target

Bradley Amendment (1986): Prohibits retroactive reduction of child support obligations, trapping low-income or disabled fathers in lifelong debt.

Contempt Practices: Courts can jail parents for nonpayment even when they lack the means, creating modern-day debtors’ prisons.

License Suspensions: States suspend driver’s and professional licenses for arrears, making it harder for parents to work and pay support.

Unequal Enforcement: Courts often fail to enforce judgments equally when fathers are owed money, leaving many destitute despite court orders.
Our Program Goals

Provide advocacy and guidance for disabled individuals and their families in legal proceedings.

Partner with legal aid organizations and civil rights groups to expand access to affordable or pro bono legal services.

Offer workshops on rights awareness, self-advocacy, and navigating the justice system.

Work with policymakers and community leaders to reform laws and practices that disproportionately harm fathers, veterans, and people with disabilities.
