TechRen Foundation Launches Fairness, Accountability & Equal Justice Program to Challenge Family Court Injustices
Lexington, TN – Fall 2026 – The TechRen Foundation is proud to announce the launch of its new Fairness, Accountability & Equal Justice Program, a nationwide initiative rooted in the personal experience of Founder Michael A. Brown, who faced systemic injustice in Florida’s divorce courts. The program will advocate for reforms that address inequities in the U.S. legal system — particularly those that impact disabled individuals and disenfranchised fathers.
“Family courts are supposed to protect fairness, yet I lived through a case where my disability and rights were ignored while court-ordered payments owed to me were never enforced,” said Michael Brown. “This isn’t just my story. It’s the reality for countless fathers and disabled men across the nation.”
🚨 Systemic Issues at Stake:
The TechRen Foundation highlights several laws and practices that urgently need reform:
-
The Bradley Amendment (1986): Prohibits retroactive reduction of child support debt, even if a parent is unemployed, disabled, or the child is grown. This creates lifelong debts that disproportionately trap fathers.
-
Civil Contempt & Debtors’ Prison Practices: Courts continue to jail fathers for nonpayment, even when they are indigent or disabled. Despite the U.S. Supreme Court’s Turner v. Rogers ruling (2011), many states ignore due process protections.
-
License Suspension Laws: Many states suspend driver’s and professional licenses for unpaid support — stripping men of their ability to work, earn income, and regain stability.
-
Unequal Enforcement of Property Settlements: Fathers who win financial judgments in divorce cases often face hurdles enforcing payment, while mothers routinely benefit from aggressive enforcement tools.
🌍 Program Goals:
Through this initiative, the TechRen Foundation will:
-
Advocate policy reform at state and federal levels to end harmful enforcement practices.
-
Push for shared parenting presumptions and gender-neutral enforcement of court orders.
-
Partner with legal aid groups and disability rights organizations to expand access to justice.
-
Educate communities through workshops on rights, advocacy, and navigating family courts.
📢 Call to Action:
The TechRen Foundation invites policymakers, disability rights advocates, legal aid providers, and families nationwide to join in demanding reforms that ensure fairness and accountability in family courts.
